You have to make sure that all your accreditations are current and commercially required - don't even consider studies which lead to some in-house certificate (which is as useless as if you'd printed it yourself). From the perspective of an employer, only the big-boys like Microsoft, Cisco, CompTIA or Adobe (to give some examples) provide enough commercial weight. Nothing else will cut the mustard.

It's essential to have the current Microsoft (or relevant organisation's) authorised exam preparation packages. Because many examining boards for IT are from the USA, it's essential to understand how exam questions will be phrased and formatted. It isn't good enough just answering any old technical questions - they need to be in the proper exam format. It's a good idea to ask for exam preparation tools that will allow you to verify your understanding whenever you need to. Simulations of exams add to your knowledge bank - then you won't be quite so nervous at the actual exam.

It's usual for students to get confused with a single courseware aspect very rarely considered: How the training is broken down and packaged off through the post. By and large, you'll enrol on a course that takes between and 1 and 3 years and receive a module at a time. It seems to make sense on one level, but consider these issues: What could you expect if you didn't actually complete each element at the required speed? Often the prescribed exam order doesn't come as naturally as some other order of studying might.
